Reclaiming nature Namib Tsaris Conservancy

  • Share this:

Overview

Ultimate Safaris operates two safari ventures on the private Namib Tsaris Conservancy, namely The Nest @ Sossus and Camp Sossus. The conservation levies paid to the Conservancy help repay the costs of the rehabilitation of the land after years of inappropriate stock farming. The removal of fences, the installation of wildlife watering points, the rehabilitation of soil-eroded land, and the reintroduction of indigenous wildlife are all measures to “Bring Back Nature” which accord well with the principles of the Conservation Travel Foundation. The latter will be well placed to become more involved once the conservancy is in the position to begin with the re-introduction of indigenous wildlife – especially the black rhino that formerly inhabited the area.
