Anti-Rhino Poaching Camp
In partnership with a US based TourOperator and Ultimate Safaris, the Conservation Travel Foundation was able to gather funds amounting to NAD 70 000 (USD 7000) for the construction of Anti-Rhino poaching camp in the heart of Damaraland. With the threat of rhino poaching spreading into Namibia, the importance of having rangers on the ground has increased. With the construction of this camp the rangers will be able to bebased in these crucial areas without the fear of been troubled by other wildlife in the area.
AfriCat Vet Check
The Conservation Travel Foundation with the support of a US based Tour Operator, was able to make a donation of N$80000 (USD8000) to the AfriCat Foundation. The donation was in support of their annual health checks on the big cats in their program. This annual health checkis a vital part of the rehabilitation of some of Namibia’s big cats such as cheetah and leopard. The Foundation has no full time veterinarians and the donation made by the Trust went a long way to paying for the services of veterinarians and the supplies that go along with the health check.
Through Ultimate Safaris and its valued guests, the Foundation was able to donate close to 100 blankets to the school. Children in boarding endure annual cold weather during the second semester of school and thus will appreciate the warm aid. A good night’s sleep always helps with the next day’s learning!
